MPS School Board Election Informational Session Tonight

Did you know there is an upcoming Minneapolis School Board election coming up? Feeling under-informed?

Neighbors for Public Schools is hosting a quick informational session TONIGHT so you can have the most accurate and up to date information. Kid friendly!! Food and Beverages Provided!!

Here’s the invitation from Jenny Arneson, a current member of the Minneapolis Public School Board:

You care about kids. You care about schools. You care about our city and community. Over the last four years, we’ve worked hard to make them better and we are ready to keep working to make them great. Join us Tuesday as we discuss the status of the school board election. New people have filed for the at-large seats which will make this a difficult race for the DFL slate. Though I am not being challenged directly, the composition of the board directly impacts what we can achieve.

Take 90 minutes on Tuesday, July 15, 5:30-7:00 to gather with friends. Learn more about this election and what we need to do and how to go about it, while grabbing a bite to eat and having a beer. Your kids can play supervised activities in the next room.

Neighbors for Public Schools will be held at Grace Center for Community Life (1500 6th Street) and is open to anyone — even non-Minneapolis or residents from other Districts — that cares about kids and knows 10 people. Can you attend? It’s important to us that you come (and we promise you will be in and out) to get the most accurate and up to date information.

Please help shape the course of the election. Because this school board race is about us. Our kids. Our schools.

See you Tuesday.

Jenny

Community Meeting Tomorrow – Logan Park Recreation Center at 7pm

Join us Monday, Oct. 24th at Logan Park Rec. Center at 7:00 pm for a community meeting to discuss proposed changes at Webster School, future development of 807 Broadway St NE, and much more. As many of you know, Minneapolis Public Schools is vacating the building at 807 Broadway St NE next year. This building, which borders St. Anthony East, is an important asset to the community and they need your ideas on how the building should be developed, as they will begin accepting bids on the property in coming months. Also, the School Board is considering adding programs to Webster School (425 5th St NE), making it either a pre K-3 school or early childhood education center. Again, this is a great opportunity for our community to influence a decision that has a significant impact on the neighborhood. We will discuss these issues further tomorrow night. Below  is a full agenda for tomorrow’s meeting. We look forward to seeing you there! Please email us or call 612-331-6514 with any questions.
Regards,
Sean O’Neil
