A new project, the East of the River Park Master Plan, will create a long-term plan for all outdoor improvements and management at NE/SE Minneapolis neighborhood parks
Apply to serve on the East of the River Park Master Plan Community Advisory Committee by August 25!
The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) is seeking applications from the public to serve on the Community Advisory Committee (CAC) for the East of the River Park Master Plan. This planning project will guide long-term capital improvements, management and operations at all Minneapolis neighborhood parks east of the Mississippi River (Northeast and Southeast Minneapolis). Community members that offer diverse perspectives across race/ethnicity, age, physical ability, income and interest are encouraged to apply.
The East of the River Park Master Plan is a unique opportunity to build community and create a shared responsibility for a comprehensive vision for Northeast and Southeast Minneapolis parks for the coming decades. It will take a complete look at all outdoor park facilities, create improvement plans for each neighborhood park, and guide decisions on capital improvements—including NPP20 funding allocations.
The CAC will work with MPRB staff, the Youth Design Team and consultants over the next 12-18 months to make recommendations to MPRB Commissioners. It is our hope that the CAC and the park planning in general will be a process that harnesses diversity, allows the community to actively contribute to MPRB decisions and actions by creating an inclusive environment in which community feedback is embraced and acted upon.
How to Apply
You may pick up applications in person at each of the seven recreation centers in Northeast/Southeast Minneapolis: Audubon, Bottineau, Logan, Luxton, Van Cleve, Waite, Windom. Spanish language applications are available, and MPRB will translate applications into other languages upon request. For more information about the Youth Design Team reach out to Carrie Christensen, Project Manager, whose contact information is listed below.
