Listening session Wednesday, Jan. 18 on a possible Northern Metals settlement
The City of Minneapolis and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) will host a meeting Jan. 18 to discuss recent developments regarding air pollution in north Minneapolis and Northern Metals Recycling.
Northern Metals, the City and the MPCA are close to reaching a settlement. Part of the settlement includes Northern Metals setting aside a sum of money to be used for remedying the effects of the company’s excess air pollution.
The final agreement needs to include details about how to use of this funding. Input is needed from Ward 1 and Ward 3 residents on how best to use this part of the settlement (for example, pollution reduction or community health projects, etc.).
