During the last week, there have been three robberies of persons in the 2nd Sector of the 2nd Precinct.

Monday, July 5 at 11:15 p.m. – A victim was robbed at gun point by three suspects at Madison St NE and Spring

Monday, July 5 at 11:37 p.m. – A victim was robbed by an individual who was holding his right hand in his pocket and pointing it at the victim as though there was a gun in the pocket.

Tuesday, July 6 at half past midnight – A victim was robbed by three individuals at gun point in the 2500 block of Marshall.

The suspects are black males in their teens to early twenties.

What you can do:

Avoid carrying a purse or bag with valuables (large amounts of cash, checkbook, credit cards, etc). If you carry cash, carry a small amount in your front pocket or wear a waist pack that can be covered by a shirt or jacket. Do not resist if a robber wants your handbag. Being pulled down by the shoulder strap of your bag or purse can cause injuries.

Victims of robberies can be any age and race and can be men or women. Take the following precautions:

Try to walk with another person.

Carry as little cash as possible. Carry your keys and money in a pocket, not in a purse or wallet.

Be observant and aware of your surroundings. Avoid being absorbed in telephone conversations or music.

Avoid alleys or poorly-lit areas. If you are walking at night, choose well-lighted streets.

If you feel uneasy, go directly to a place where there are other people.

If you are aware of lights out on your street or in your neighborhood, call 311 and report them.

SAENA Note: Help your neighbors and yourself by turning on your porch light and adding some security to YOUR street!

If you see suspicious activity, call 911.

Call regarding Juveniles who are out past curfew

If a robber approaches you, don’t resist. Try to get a good description of the robber, as well as vehicle description and license plate number. Call 911 immediately.
